Professional teeth whitening can help to remove stains, brighten your smile and boost your self-confidence. Today, our dentists explain how the professional teeth whitening process works here at Jubilee Dental Centre in Summerland.
Although our teeth will naturally darken as we age, smoking, and dark pigmented foods and beverages can also cause our teeth to become stained and discoloured.
Professional teeth whitening is a non-invasive dental treatment that can quickly and effectively restore the brilliance of smile.
Professional Teeth Whitening
Here at Jubilee Dental we offer patients custom teeth whitening systems to help remove stains and whiten teeth. Our professional teeth whitening process involves 3 easy steps:
- At your first appointment, impressions (molds) will be made of your teeth in order to create clear custom whitening trays that fit your teeth precisely.
- When you return to our dental office for your second appointment, you will be provided with your custom whitening trays along with whitening solution, and full instructions on how to use the professional teeth whitening treatment.
- Following the instructions provided, use the custom trays and solution to conveniently whiten your teeth in the comfort of your own home.
The Whitening Process
Simply use the whitening trays with the special whitening solution as directed. We think that you will find the custom whitening trays lightweight and comfortable to wear.
Typically, professional whitening systems require that you wear the trays with the solution either twice a day for 30 minutes, or overnight for a couple of weeks depending on the degree of staining and desired level of whitening. Your Summerland dentist will provide you with instructions specifically for the whitening system we use.
Whitening treatments take about 10-14 days to achieve the desired level of whiteness. If you are unsure how white is white enough visit your dentist for advice. If it helps, your dentist can use a colour chart to indicate the colour of your teeth before whitening and the desired shade you hope to achieve after your treatment is complete.
Be sure to hang on to your whitening trays after you have finished the whitening process. That way, when it's time for a touch-up you will be able to reuse your trays. Simply contact our office for more of the whitening solution.
Important:
- It is normal to experience tooth sensitivity during the time you are whitening your teeth, but it will subside shortly after you have completed your treatment. If you are concerned about the increased sensitivity you experience while whitening your teeth, contact your dentist for more information.
