For many of our patients, Invisalign® clear aligners can help to straighten teeth, and correct bite issues, without the need for wires and brackets. Today, our Summerland dentist explains how the Invisalign treatment process works, from start to finish.
Are you ready for a straighter smile?
If you're ready to straighten your teeth or correct a bite issue, but don't want the look of traditional braces, Invisalign may be the ideal orthodontic treatment for you.
Here's how the Invisalign treatment process works:
1 - Book Your Invisalign Consultation
The first step on your journey is to visit your Summerland dentist for your Invisalign consultation.
This consultation will give your dentist an opportunity to thoroughly examine your teeth and bite to determine whether Invisalign treatment might be right for you.
If you're a good candidate for Invisalign, your dentist will do a series of detailed scans using our 3D intraoral scanning technology and show you a preview of what your smile could look like once your treatment is complete.
2 - Review Your Personalized Treatment Plan
Based on your smile goals and the results of your detailed 3D scans, your dentist will create a custom treatment plan just for you. Your personalized treatment plan will map out the steps of your Invisalign treatment, and provide you with insights regarding timelines and what you can expect from your Invisalign treatment.
3 - Your Clear Custom-Made Aligners Are Ready
Each of the clear aligners in your series will be created specifically to fit your smile and facilitate precise tooth movements. By changing to the next set of aligners in your series every two weeks (or as prescribed by your dentist), your teeth will gently shift into their corrected positions over the course of your treatment period. All Invisalign aligners are made out of a clear flexible plastic called SmartTrack® and do not contain any gluten, BPS or BPA.
4 - Invisalign Treatment Begins
Once your first series of aligners arrive at your dentist's office you will be contacted to come pick them up and your treatment can get started.
While you're at the dental clinic to pick up your aligners, your dentist will ensure that your aligners fit correctly, show you how to wear them properly, review your treatment plan with you, and answer any questions you may have.
After that, you will only need to visit your dentist every 6-8 weeks so that your dentist can monitor your progress and make adjustments to your treatment as required.
5 - Nothing Can Stop You Now
Your clear aligners are so discreet and convenient you can live your life without interrupts while straightening your teeth and correcting bite issues.
Your Invisalign custom aligners will be almost completely invisible while you're wearing them. That means hardly anyone will notice that you're straightening your teeth. And your Invisalign aligners are removable so there's no need to give up any of the foods you love while straightening your teeth.
